Flagpole Cherry
Prunus 'Amanogawa'
The flagpole cherry (Prunus 'Amanogawa') is a very columnar ornamental cherry tree, ideal for smaller spaces.
In April, the upright branches are covered in pale pink semi double. This is followed by bronze spring foliage turns to mid-green in the summer and then into orange and red colours later in the autumn.
The narrow form will grow to a height and spread of just 7 x 2 metres in 20 years.
The tree will grow well in full sun or light shade and is best in a fertile well drained soil.
