Bamboo is a graceful, tall and attractive evergreen producing large clumps of evergreen leaves. Golden bamboo is one of the better behaved Phyllostachys species and, in many ways, could be considered as an ideal garden bamboo. It grows straight, almost completely upright culms and is quite tolerant of wind - making it an ideal plant for hedges as well as a solitary feature. It likes full sun or part shade and moist soil. It will grow eventually to 4-5m and will spread 3m and is fully hardy.
