Small Leaved Lime Greenspire
Tilia Cordata Greenspire
Tilia cordata ‘Greenspire’ is a compact, neat and tidy clone of the classic Small Leaved Lime, Tilia cordata. This tree has small and shiny heart-shaped leaves which are dark green on the surface and light green on the underside. The creamy coloured, fragrant flowers appear in July and are a welcome addition to this attractive variety of native tree. In the autumn time, the foliage turns a golden yellow.
Tilia cordata has a regular, pyramidal shape and maintains a strong central leader and evenly branched crown through to maturity. The great benefit of planting a clonal selection of a native great is that you get consistency with each plant, the same height and shape can be expected from each tree planted and this is a great advantage when selecting trees for avenue planting.
This tree is a tough performer and will survive planting in a range of soil conditions, including heavy clay and urban conditions.
